"Is--is...someone else here?"

                             " . . . No."

100 Theme Challenge 2011 - 72 - Silhouette

52 Week Six Word Story Challenge - Write a dialogue only six word story (between at least two people).

Still tweaking with the exact wording. Initially, this ended with "No" instead of "Nobody".

For the first part, I was trying to get that nervous/scared emotion in it. With the formatting in the reply, I was aiming to make the reply as creepy as possible, did I accomplish both of those?

I wish I could do this one in audio. I can hear the voices myself, and it feels like it'd be so much simpler and more effective to convey the emotions that way. Oh well.

Now, is that the person saying it to themselves or another person? :P

Because ... yeah, it's quite clever, I guess. If it was another person, then it would have been... a bogus question? Because obviously something is there, but what it is is another matter entirely, perhaps.

Cool stuff, anyway.

In my head, it's definitely another...something (never decided if it was someone or something.

I was aiming for a creepy, dark atmosphere. A girl walking through some dark forest or old building or in a house where there might be a killer or home alone, something of that nature (probably akin to the openings of plenty of horror movies). So she hear's or thinks she sees something, and asks "Is somebody there?" and the low, almost evil-tinged reply is "No..." In a voice that's part sarcastic, part manaically and sadistically pleased, and very...pervasive (as in, almost cuts into you disgustingly when you hear it).

The next thing that happens in my head is her freaking out and running and/or being attacked.

Alternate idea: babysitter playing hide and seek with a young child.

Ah, I see.

That's quite intriguing. o.O

Thriller like, then? :P

I get what you mean. I can just imagine it.

Hopefully not... but hell, intense stuff.

So this is a kind of haunted place type of story?
With Holloween coming up it fits.
Thank You

I suppose it could be. In my mind it wasn't so much "haunted" as it was "occupied" (think being trapped in a house alone with a criminal), but it certainly works both ways.
